I am v v v grateful to Phill ('Joop') Jupitus for his great kindness in 'talent-spotting' me and Clare at the Laugharne Festival this year and giving us a spot as support on his show, Zeitgeist Limbo. It was a dream come true for me, his fan previously, and his manner with us certainly showed what heart he has. Thank you for all your support, sir, for the tickets to your other shows (Making News and The Phill Jupitus Experiment), and for so generously giving me n Clare some money from the collection bucket too (sorely needed). You are a star!!!!! (Phill also drew the funny picture of me you see in the background on this blog - what a multi-talented man!!!) :-)
Other highlights included: my spots at Woodstock Taylor's Well, It's Woody (before my tummy got too sore for me to continue there - v disappointed!); the spots me n Clare did at Owen Niblock's Calculating Comedy (highly recommended!); seeing Kate Fox in a unicorn onesie (pictured) at her show Good Breeding; catching the perfect-for-that-moment end of Dan Simpson's show We Are All Orange Ghosts; Luke Wright's Essex Lion, a highlight and a half, with Luke giving me n Clare comp tickets (thankyou!) plus enjoying a drink with the lovely fella after; enjoying my first experience at NoFit State's Bianco, which was just ASTOUNDING; seeing my first puppet show, Hag, which, likewise, was so so amazing, and made such a lasting impression; seeing the hilarious Marcel Lucont again, and performing at his terrific Cabaret Fantastique; and, finally, mine n Clare's final gig (which I was somehow well enough for! Hurrah) at Tongue Fu, which featured cool cat host Chris Redmond, world champ beatboxer Bellatrix of the Boxettes, the supremely funny Anna Freeman, and Welsh icon Howard Marks. What a week!!!!!
Anyway, I'm back in the Diff now, and suffering the post-Ed blues. Such a busy, intense time, it was like being surrounded by a billion colourful butterflies, all butting their head and flapping their wings against you, sometimes flying down your throat and choking you, sometimes getting stuck, annoyingly, in your hair, and then - nothing. Ho hum! Hum drum! Well, there's stuff to do here, I guess... But, Ed Fringe, I miss you!!! Until next year, then - thank you all!! x
